As investments continue to pour into the climate tech space, are they going into the technologies that could create greater impact in climate reduction?

By some estimates, the vast majority of investments, at least US$70 billion, went to electric vehicles in the last decade. However, a greater share of global emissions are coming from electricity and the food system, and startups with technologies tackling these issues are left starving for cash.

Undoubtedly, the electric vehicles market is almost a guaranteed profit generator for investors, but investors willing to take risks on other emergent technologies with greater carbon reduction or removal potential could be very well rewarded, not least by creating the next set of climate tech unicorns.
