The Time is Ripe for Holistic Carbon Emissions Accounting

Spot any familiar names in this list of top US companies using the highest percentage of green energy?

As green energy becomes more affordable, and institutional investors are encouraging companies to transition towards low-carbon operations, major companies are researching and implementing green energy solutions, as well as setting carbon neutrality targets.

While all that is good, as we have only until 2025 to reach cabon neutrality to prevent disastrous climate events, companies must also take into account their value chain emissions, or Scope 3 emissions, which contribute to 90% of corporate greenhouse gas emissions.

To be clear, Scope 3 emissions are indirect upstream and downstream emissions that occur in the value chain. An example of Scope 3 emissions for a food manufacturer would be those generated from the transportation of raw materials to the factory for manufacturing as well as food products to retail destinations. Learn more about value chain emissions from the resources created by the Value Chain Initiative here: https://valuechangeinitiative.com/
